ANTA'S FIRST "FUN IN THE SUN" FLORIDA MATCH A SUCCESS!

West Palm Beach was the site of ANTA's "Fun in the Sun" match held on March 11, 2005. The match followed The Everglades Terrier Club show at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Marjorie McTernan graciously judged the entries.

Bradenton resident Linda Myers won Best Puppy with Libby aka Outback Lady Liberty (Ch. Havans Tom x Ch. Llwydd Lady of the Lake). Local Palm Beachians, Heidi and Connery Cole's Mike Wazowski aka Ch. Hi-Mount's Monster's Inc. (Ch. The Duke of Copperplate x Capricorns Two Penny Opera) won Best Adult and then went on to win the coveted Best in Match.

ANTA President Judith Felton flew in to enjoy a warm respite from the cold north. Linda Lyons from Greenwich, CT came across the state with Chamoneiux whilst visiting her father to take in the match. Lee Little had a couple of entries that fell into the "Norfolk's whose ears went bad" category (Norwich). Well known professional handler Larry Cornelius put on the pressure while handling his own little girl, Connie. Up from Lauderdale, Ken Slump and Deane Hall packed the entry with Flyer, Nutmeg and Beebee. Over from Sarasota, Sue O'Brien showed Oprah. Several other Norfolks were ringside watching the action.

Carole Walsh sent some adorable embroidery totes that were for sale, and Jane Anderson sent down a few ANTA store items that were also well received.

After the show, a group of exhibitors met at Bucca de Bepe, a family style Italian restaurant, for a wonderful dinner and fellowship. (Thanks to member Margie Sabbatini for picking the restaurant and making the reservation, and to Charles Kaleta who helped making other arrangements. Unfortunately, neither could attend.)

A donation from Carole's sales of the totes was made to the Joan Read Memorial Fund. Hard to imagine that she's been gone ten years already. I am sure she would approve of us having fun with the dogs though!!!

Heidi Evans

(Ed. Note: Heidi, there is NO doubt Joan would approve of this fun event! Thanks to you and your team of helpers for making this match a reality.)
