ANTA'S SUMMER FUN AT THE FAIRGROUNDS
August 13, 2005
North Stonington, CT

REMEMBER THOSE LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER?

The sweeping heat wave that engulfed the Northeast this summer reached its height at the time of two Norfolk related gatherings. The first was ANTA's summer gathering at the North Stonington (CT) fairgrounds on August 13th.

With temperatures in the high 90's and the heat index even higher most people took advantage of the shade to sit and talk dogs. The dogs took advantage of the shade to snooze.

This puppy welcomed nap time.

With a brief flyball demonstration, an introduction to earthdog overseen by Bob Lachman, ongoing grooming by Lori Pelletier, the Club store manned by Jane and Everett Anderson, and the usual fantastic lunch prepared by the ladies of the Grange, there was plenty to keep everyone occupied albeit in slow motion.

This annual event always provides an opportunity for people to relax and have fun in a country atmosphere.

In New Hampshire the next day, Sheila Weathers had a gathering of family and friends at her place in Elkins. Although the weather was equally hot, the pond proved a welcome respite from the heat. Water sports were the feature of the day, with bunches of Norfolks enjoying water polo, water races, dog paddle demos and other assorted water games.

Proving once again that Norfolks don't melt in the rain, Arlo negotiates one of the dryer parts of the course in this October agility trial. Right after his run, the ring was abandoned since most of it was under water.
