ANTA FALL FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 15-16, 2005 -- MONTGOMERY, NY

Bee Ege Conformation Judge

ANTA RAFFLE TO FEATURE "YOUR DOG!" IN ORIGINAL PEN AND INK DRAWING BY JESSICA KOZEL

ANTA is pleased to announce that we will have a special raffle to highlight our Fall Festival activities:

An Original Pencil and Ink Head Study/Portrait -- approx. 11" x 14" -- on paper by Jessica Kozel

"Jasper"
Ch. Mercator Point to Point

Jessica Kozel will create a drawing from a photograph supplied by the raffle winner. If the winner is in the New England area, arrangements can be made for Jessica to meet the winner's dog. However, the lovely drawing of Jasper was done strictly from a photograph.

Jessica is a self-taught artist specializing in realistic graphite and colored pencil portraits of dogs. Her portrait of a well known Boxer champion was donated to the American Boxer Charitable Health Foundation's auction at the 2004 American Boxer Club's National Specialty. This piece of art was one of the top selling items in the auction. For examples of her work, go to www.lemkoboxers.com and click on "my art".

Further details and raffle tickets will be available in the June and September issues of ANTIC.

25TH ANNIVERSARY FALL FESTIVAL JUDGED RESOUNDING SUCCESS

ANTA members from far and near made the journey to Montgomery, NY for this year's Silver Anniversary Fall Festival. Starting with an informal get-together on Friday evening, then progressing to a smoothly run and expertly judged match on Saturday, and finishing with "fun and games" on Sunday, the event couldn't have been better.

Judge for the conformation classes was Bee Read Ege a founding member of ANTA and daughter of the late Joan Read. Bee found her Best in Show dog in the Biffin of Beaufin Dog Stakes class: Ch. Dralion's Fire Within is a young dog who is breeder-owned by Peter and Linda Dowdle of Canada.

Best in Show -- The "top dog" at this year's Fall Festival was Ch. Dralion's Fire Within (Ch. Abbedale's Diamond Jim Brady x Ch. Dralion's Conessa of Cortailod.) Breeder/Owner Linda Dowdle is shown receiving top honors from Judge Bee Read Ege.

Other dogs in the final line-up included the Best Puppy in Match, the Best Adult in Match, and the Merry of Beaufin Stakes winner.

Top puppy this year came from the 12-18 Month Puppy Dog class. He is Birkenshaw Stepping Out at Avalon (Ch. Avalon's First Step x Birkenshaw's Past Persuasion). Bred by Sally Harrington, he is owned by Lori Pelletier.

Best Adult was Mary Fine's homebred Ch. Tylwyth Just Riley, CDX (Ch. Copperplate Alexander of Venerie x Ch. Tylwyth Fatal Attraction, CD). He came from the Veteran Dog class and gave the youngsters a run for they money for top honors.

Merry of Beaufin Stake winner was Ch. Bigwig's Nutmeg (Ch. Capricorn's One Potato x Ch. Jufelt's Busy Bee at Bigwig). She was bred by Ken Slump and is owned by Ken and Deane Hall.

Following the day's judging, and a brief annual meeting, the Joan Read Memorial Lecture was given by Carol Falk and Lori Pelletier. Their discussion of Mitral Valve Disease in Norfolks included information on current research as well as suggestions for testing breeding stock on a regular basis.

Among the activities on Sunday were introduction to earthdog, flat racing, and lure coursing. Also, an obedience demonstration was presented by Mary Fine and Sue Kerrigan. Although the windy day made some of the activities a bit of a challenge, Team Joiris managed to tie down the agility equipment long enough to demonstrate the fun of this sport.
