QUARANTINE LAWS GRADUALLY CHANGING;
USA DOGS DON'T BENEFIT ... YET

(Ed: For information about the latest quarantine developments in England, see Passports for Pets.)

Residents of England who purchase "pet passports" attesting to the health and vaccination status of their dogs will soon be able to travel freely between Britain, western European, and other safe (rabies free) countries. This will eliminate the need for pets to undergo six months in a quarantine kennel before being allowed into England.

The new system, slated to be fully operational by April 2001, does not yet apply to dogs coming from Africa, Asia, the Americas or any other nation with rabies. However, it is a promising beginning and offers hope of a more reasonable means of travelling from the USA to England with dogs.
